So, OnePlus is all set to launch its new smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 3, worldwide on July 5. The device is said to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 2V, previously released in China. While the design and most specifications will remain similar, there is a significant upgrade in the camera department.
According to a leak from tipster Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus Nord 3 will feature a 50MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This camera sensor, known as the Sony IMX890, is usually found in high-end smartphones like the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 11R. The leaked promotional material also reveals that the device will offer up to 16GB of RAM and support virtual RAM.
The inclusion of the Sony IMX890 sensor is expected to greatly enhance the camera capabilities of the OnePlus Nord 3. However, it’s important to consider that the overall camera performance also depends on the image signal processing capabilities of the system-on-a-chip (SoC). While the OnePlus 11 and 11R use Snapdragon chipsets, the Nord 3 will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. It will be interesting to see how effectively this chip can utilize the potential of the Sony IMX890 sensor, given the differences in hardware and software.

Rumors suggest that the OnePlus Nord 3 will come with a large 6.74-inch display, offering a high-resolution 1.5K screen and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the device will be the powerful Dimensity 9000 processor, along with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
In terms of the camera setup, leaks indicate a triple rear camera system, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro unit. For selfie lovers, there will be a 16MP front-facing camera.
Additional features of the OnePlus Nord 3 are expected to include dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. And, a VC cooling chamber for better heat dissipation, an Alert Slider for convenient control. Also, NFC functionality for contactless payments, an X-Axis Linear motor for improved haptic feedback. And, an IR blaster for remote control functionalities also. The software on the device is likely to be OxygenOS 13.1, based on the latest Android 13.
