Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Series Receives July 2023 Security Update in the US

So, Samsung has released a new security update for its Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra phones in the United States. The update focuses on improving device security by fixing over 90 vulnerabilities found in the previous software version. It is being rolled out gradually across major carrier networks.

The July 2023 security patch includes a total of 90 fixes. Google contributed 52 of these fixes, while Samsung provided 38 of their own fixes. Three critical and 56 high-priority security flaws have been addressed in this update. The remaining fixes are considered moderate risks. Some of the fixes from the June 2023 patch are also included in this update.

The security flaws resolved in this update cover various areas such as manual package installation, audio system access control, UWB chipset identifier, broadcast SMS configuration, Galaxy Themes Service, Settings access control, and issues in internal testing functions. These fixes help prevent unauthorized code execution and enhance overall system security.

If you have a carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US, you can manually check for the update by going to Settings, selecting Software update, and choosing Download and Install.

The Galaxy Note 20 series was originally launched with Android 10 and has since received subsequent updates to Android 11, Android 12 in late 2021, and Android 13 in late 2022.
