The certification confirms that the Sony’s WF-1000XM5 earbuds carry the model number Y2963 and were previously certified by the FCC. It is expected that these earbuds will support Qi wireless charging, similar to the Sony WF-1000XM4. The certification listing mentions 2W wireless charging support.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 is anticipated to be smaller and more comfortable to wear compared to the WF-1000XM4. It will retain the built-in active noise cancellation feature. Leaked information suggests that each earbud of the XM5 will weigh around 5.9 grams, lighter than the XM4’s 7.3 grams.
The earbuds are reported to offer a total listening time of 24 hours with the charging case, the same as the XM4. It is also claimed that just three minutes of charging will provide 1 hour of usage, an improvement from the XM4, which required five minutes.
