Sony WF-1000XM5 TWS Earbuds Spotted on Certification Website, Could Launch Soon

So, Sony is preparing to launch the Sony WF-1000XM4 successor, the Sony WF-1000XM5. The upcoming earbuds’ specifications were recently revealed by The Walkman Blog, and renders of the WF-1000XM5 were showcased by Winfuture.de. Also, the renders showed that the new TWS earbuds would come in Black and Silver colors. Ahead of the official launch, the Sony WF-1000XM5 has been spotted on the Wireless Power Consortium certification website.

The certification confirms that the Sony’s WF-1000XM5 earbuds carry the model number Y2963 and were previously certified by the FCC. It is expected that these earbuds will support Qi wireless charging, similar to the Sony WF-1000XM4. The certification listing mentions 2W wireless charging support.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 is anticipated to be smaller and more comfortable to wear compared to the WF-1000XM4. It will retain the built-in active noise cancellation feature. Leaked information suggests that each earbud of the XM5 will weigh around 5.9 grams, lighter than the XM4’s 7.3 grams.

The earbuds are reported to offer a total listening time of 24 hours with the charging case, the same as the XM4. It is also claimed that just three minutes of charging will provide 1 hour of usage, an improvement from the XM4, which required five minutes. The charging case of the XM5 will support USB Type-C and Qi wireless charging. Additionally, the Sony WF-1000XM5 will include multi-point connectivity, touch controls, and advanced voice pickup technology.

The exact launch date of the XM5 remains unknown, but based on previous releases, it is likely to debut between June and August.
