Twitter Implements Temporary Limits on Post Viewing

Twitter has introduced temporary measures to tackle issues related to data scraping and system manipulation on its platform. Users now need to log into their accounts to view tweets and user profiles. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, referred to this change as a “temporary emergency measure” due to extensive data looting that was negatively affecting the service quality for regular users.

To combat the increasing levels of data scraping and system manipulation, Elon Musk announced temporary limits on post viewing. Initially, verified accounts could only read 6,000 posts per day, unverified accounts were limited to 600 posts per day, and new unverified accounts could only view 300 posts per day.

However, Musk later revised these limits. Verified accounts can now access up to 10,000 posts per day, unverified accounts have a limit of 1,000 posts per day, and new unverified accounts can view 500 posts per day.

These temporary limitations and the mandatory login requirement may affect user accessibility and convenience. Nevertheless, they are necessary steps to maintain the integrity and security of the platform.

It is unclear how long these measures will remain in effect. Twitter may explore additional strategies to counter data scraping while ensuring a smooth user experience.
